These pages are very much under construction! They will undergo some organization and changes but I did want to get started right away. I am currently restarting all the courses I was teaching before COVID-19. I think it will be helpful to use this page as a source of information for students. There are specific pages for Sales Agent Students and Associate Broker Students. This page will be a source of general information for all.
If you have specific concerns or questions, remember that you can always send me an email. One of my philosophies regarding questions is, "If you ask a question, yes, you might look like a fool for five minutes. If you don't ask a question, you might look like a fool forever."
"How to Protect Yourself and Others" is a page produced by the Maine Center for Disease Control with suggestions for protection from COVID-19. The suggestions are practical and reasonable and we'll apply them during our workshops. Please come prepared accordingly.
"Test-taking Tips" offers some thoughts for reducing test anxiety and staying focused. While it's written specifically for sales agent students, all will benefit from the general information.
One minute guide to joining Zoom Meetings... a quick and simple video explanation of how to join a Zoom Meeting. This will also put you into the Zoom Help Center where there's lots of helpful, easy to understand information.
Wisdom is exactly that... some short sayings and quotes to think about on subjects ranging from life to learning to...
Comments are what students say after completing a course.
"Using Maslow will help them to Bloom." (For those not involved in education, "Bloom" is a reference to Bloom's Taxonomy.)
Tom Berger, Edutopia Blog
"Education does not occur by osmosis, no matter how semipermeable you believe your brains is."
Anthony T. Russo
"If you study to remember, you will forget. If you study to understand, you will remember."
Walter, but he didn't say it first
"No one becomes a baseball fan because they read the baseball textbook and did well on the baseball test. The same goes for people who devote their lives to cooking, leading or healthcare. These are journeys that require emotional enrollment, not a good test score. We need to stop holding the future hostage in exchange for an exam."
“It seems as if Americans like to be the center of attention even after they're dead.”
"Education is the hustle for a credential. It exchanges compliance for certification. An institution can educate you.
Learning can’t be done to you. It is a choice and it requires active participation, not simple adherence to metrics."
"Learning opens the door to the future we’d like to live in."
"You are not the work you do; you are the person you are."
A few recent comments from students who've completed a course:
"Wanted to thank you again for your instruction over the past four weeks as part of the Maine Sales Agent course. Really enjoyed your class and your style of teaching. I felt comfortable and confident that I had learned the material pretty well and immediately applied for a test date which was today. I passed the exam this morning. Thanks again and hope to see you for the Associate Brokers course!" (Sales Agent Student)
"I have to give a huge shout out to our teacher Walter. He thoroughly knows his material and the way he explains things makes is much clearer than reading from a book alone. He went above and beyond to assist in areas I was struggling with and was extremely prompt on answering emails. He also was very encouraging. I am not sure I have had a more sincere, encouraging well informing teacher in my life." (Sales Agent Student)
Walter made the class more personable. It was easier to understand with the real-life examples he gave us. Thank you so much and I look forward to taking more classes with him! (Associate Broker Student)
Walter is an amazing and charismatic teacher. I have struggled my whole life calculating percentages and he made it so crystal clear for me. He is patient and understanding and was very flexible when it came to navigating the past few months during this health crisis. (Associate Broker Student)
I enjoyed the in-person classes more than I thought I would. Hearing Walter’s real-life stories and scenarios in the real estate world were beneficial and relatable. (Associate Broker Student)
Walter is the best! Any questions I had regarding a topic that was done online he helped me understand. (Associate Broker Student)
