What if I want to be the Principal Broker or Managing Broker of a real estate agency in New Hampshire?

A Broker license authorizes you to perform all brokerage services on behalf of an agency, including serving as the agency’s principal broker or managing broker. The broker license is issued for two years and is renewable.

To apply for the Broker license you must:

  • Have worked the equivalent of either one year full-time or 2000 hours part-time as a salesperson in New Hampshire within five years of the date you apply for the Broker license, or prove to the New Hampshire Real Estate Commission that you have the equivalent experience.
  • Submit evidence of a least six separate real estate transactions in which you were actively involved and was compensated, or prove to the commission that you have equivalent experience.
  • Show proof of 60 hours of Commission-approved study.
  • Pass the PSI New Hampshire real estate broker exam with a score of 70% or above.
  • Apply to the New Hampshire Real Estate Commission.

Note that there are alternate ways to be licensed as a broker in New Hampshire if you have completed a specified course of study in a college degree program. Consult the New Hampshire Real Estate Commission for more information.
