About the Class

The Broker/Designated Broker Course is a 50-hour program approved by the Maine Real Estate Commission for earning a Maine Broker license and qualifying to serve as a Designated Broker. It is also approved for 18 hours of Continuing Education for current Broker and Designated Broker license renewals.

The course is delivered primarily online through our modern, user-friendly learning platform, allowing you to complete self-study at your own pace from anywhere. As a Maine-based education provider, you’ll also have direct access to our responsive local support team.

Course topics include business planning, company policy manuals, risk management, ethical considerations, and the development of effective training programs. The program follows a convenient blended format—complete your online coursework anytime and attend 12 hours of interactive livestream workshops scheduled at times that fit your calendar. No textbook and no additional state or national exams are required after completion.

Eligibility Checklist

√ Associate Broker Experience
Have held an Associate Broker license affiliated with a brokerage for 2 years within the 5 years immediately preceding your application.(The 2 years do not need to be consecutive.)

√ Complete the Required Course
Successfully complete the Broker/Designated Broker Course with a final grade of 75% or higher.

√ Include Course Certificate
Submit your Designated Broker Course Completion Certificate with your application.
(Certificate is valid for 1 year from the completion date.)

√ Understand Designated Broker Responsibility
A licensed real estate broker may serve as the Designated Broker, responsible for the agency’s operations and the supervision of affiliated licensees and employees.
