In Maine, Associate Broker and Broker/Designated Broker licensees must complete 21 hours of approved continuing education every two years. Three of these hours must be a Core Course.
CORE COURSE REQUIREMENT
Effective April 1, 2025 the Real Estate Commission core course requirement is “Reasonable Care and Diligence Core Course”.
The course noted above is required if:
Licensees with a license expiration date prior to April 1, 2025, who renew prior to April 1, 2025, may fulfill their core course requirement with either the “Buyer Relationships Core Course” or the new core course as noted above.
Can I carry over "extra CE credit hours" for my next license renewal?
The answer is no. CE hours completed before your renewal only apply to that renewal cycle. Your clock hours for your next renewal begin on or after the issue date of your license.
What happens if I have not completed my 21 hours of CE when my license expires?
You cannot renew your license until you have completed the CE hours, including the applicable Core Course. You have up to 90 calendar days from your license expiration date to complete your CE and then submit a late renewal with an additional $50 late fee.
YOU MAY NOT PRACTICE DURING THE TIME THE LICENSE IS EXPIRED!
