Out-of-State Reciprocity

 

I have an active real estate license from a state other than Maine.  How do I get a reciprocal real estate license in Maine?

If you currently hold an active license in good standing in another state you may qualify for a similar license in Maine.

To qualify by reciprocity you must hold a current and active license in good standing in another state at the time you apply for the Maine license. Active status is defined as maintaining affiliation with an agency or eligibility to perform real estate brokerage. The only acceptable evidence that you hold an active license in good standing is a Certificate of Licensure issued by the licensing jurisdiction. A copy of a current license is not acceptable. The Maine license issued is valid for a period of two years and is renewable.
